Should I pitch? Or not?

At a recent away day with one of my clients, Corporation Pop in Manchester, we discussed the creation of a pitch decision tree because it was becoming increasingly difficult to evaluate whether or not an opportunity was a good one with real commercial merit or simply a “tyre kicker” looking for free ideas or, worse, an exploitative process that only benefited the prospective client.

Whilst the resulting ‘decision tree’ is still work in progress, and doesn’t really pick up on factors such as “could the work that might result enhance to my credentials” ( or simply “Could it make me famous?”) I do think it’s an excellent piece that many agencies could benefit from adopting.

Dom Raban’s blog post that accompanies it makes for good reading and you can download the original from it.
